The referendum on the Kibworths' Neighbourhood Plan will be on Thursday 25th January 2018. The polling station (Kibworth Grammar School Hall) will be open from 7am until 10pm for voting. Polling cards are due to be issued in the New Year.
A count with greater than 50% approving the plan means it will be adopted (or made) and HDC planners have to take account of the local policies when determining planning applications.
Kibworth's Neighbourhood Plan
The Localism Act 2011 introduced the idea of Neighbourhood Development Plans to give local communities a real opportunity to influence future development in their area. When approved and adopted, a Neighbourhood Plan becomes the first document to be consulted whenever a planning application is submitted in the area.
This is a real opportunity for the local community to work together and to take control of the future of the two Kibworth villages (Kibworth Beauchamp and Kibworth Harcourt) by gathering evidence and consulting on a range of topics including housing, employment, leisure, community facilities etc.
The Chair to the Neighbourhood Planning Group is Cllr. Chris Wood of Kibworth Beauchamp Parish Council and the Vice Chair is Janet Riley, resident of Kibworth Harcourt.
